My 10 Hot Twitter Tips for Small Business Users.

When using Twitter for your small business you want to stand out from the crowd and attract a new following.

I have put together my Top 10 Favourite Tips for making Twitter work for you.

1) Your Profile

Make sure you complete your Twitter profile fully. It is important that your profile stands out and gets you noticed. Fill in all your details including Include all links to your websites, blogs and other social media pages you have.

2) Take a good picture

A good headshot of yourself of your business logo as your profile picture. You want people to recognise you and your brand.

3) Post original thoughts on your field of expertise

You need to show your followers that you are an expert in your field and you know what your talking about. Be the go to person they can rely on.

4) Follow other Experts

Follow other Experts, Companies, industry Leaders or even your competitors in your field.

Engage with them and learn from them.

5) Post pictures of Events you attend or things of interest.

People engage better when they see visual images in a post. Pictures can be fun or accompany posts of events or travel that you have participated in.

6) Plan ahead

Spread your Tweets out throughout the day. Twitter is very fluid and different people will be checking in at different times of the day so you need to keep your posts fluid too.

If you don't have time to come back every couple of hours you can easily prepare all your tweets in one go and schedule them to go out at various times. However don't forget to come back and engage with those that have responded to Tweets and are following you.

7) Refer Others

Use your Twitter feed to recommended other professionals, after all what goes around comes around, they might just return the favour.

8) Participate in Twitter Chats related to your industry.

Twitter chats provide a chance to network and grow your followers through shared interests. You may discover new contacts useful tools, tips, super savvy people whom we might not have otherwise connected with.

9) Research and Identify Your # Hashtags

Hashtags are a cool tool that make words more searchable. Discover what is trending and decide what words to include in your posts. Using hashtags will help you connect with others who have similar interests. DO NOT over do hashtags. Two per tweet should be the maximum.

10) Finally, RETWEET

When you see something interesting in your stream that relates to your industry and you think would be of interest to your followers retweet it. Retweeting others content helps you establish relationships with influencers on Twitter and shows your followers that you are an active participant of the Twitter community.
